Connections and wireless connections

There are four USB 3.0 ports, one LAN port, one VGA port, one HDMI port and one headphone / microphone combination jack. In addition, a hub for a Dell Dock is integrated. There is also an SD card reader. With the free PCI Express mini card slot, the hardware of the Dell Latitude E6540 Notebook can be flexibly extended. Wireless connectivity allows the Intel Centrino Ultimate-N 6300 network card. This supports WLAN standards a, g and n. Bluetooth 4.0 is also supported. Operating system and keyboard

On the Dell Latitude E6540, Windows 7 Pro is preinstalled with drivers in the 64-bit version with COA (Certificate of Authenticity) with drivers. Operation is via the illuminated keyboard and multitouch touchpad.

Audio and video

The audio is played by the Intel Lynx Point PCH – High Definition Audio Controller via a stereo loudspeaker. Two microphones are available for audio recording. The webcam of the Dell Latitude E6540 Notebooks resolves with 1280×720 pixels (HD).

Security

The device has a Trusted Platform Module (TPM) security chip as well as a smart card reader. A slot for a security lock is integrated to protect against theft.

The housing is mainly made of plastic and reinforced in some places with magnesium. The display cover itself is made of matt polished aluminum.
